Hello all! My name is Miriam Lazo, and I am teaching 6th grade Common Core English at Christine O’Donovan Middle Academy. Although I have two years of experience in the classroom, this is my first year as a teacher. I am extremely excited to learn and grow alongside the students. I achieved my Bachelor’s in Communication at Cal State University San Bernardino, and am currently working toward my Master’s in Education at National University.
My philosophy about teaching is: education should be empowering, not intimidating; our youth should not be afraid of the education system, or obtaining more knowledge; instead, they should feel stronger and braver while they increase their intelligence, and my goal is to assist them in getting to that point. That being said, I will definitely challenge my students this year, and my goal is to help them develop a growth mindset, so that they can put forth their best effort and conquer the academic world, as well as the world outside the classroom. I sincerely look forward to working with all of my students as a whole and individually, and to watching them excel in English Language Arts!
