Sandy Hook Promise is a national non-profit organization founded and led by several family members whose loved ones were killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School on December 14, 2012. Based in Newtown, Connecticut, their intent is to honor all victims of gun violence by turning tragedy into a moment of transformation by providing programs and practices that protect children and prevent the senseless, tragic loss of life. Say Something Week is one of their programs and is a week dedicated to creating awareness around potential threats and bullying using targeted strategies and lessons. At O’Donovan, we have a week of activities planned for students to help them identify and alert Administration of any possible problems that may arise. Activities include a presentation by a Sandy Hook Promise representative, informative videos, and a preventative Lock Down Drill to continue to keep our campus a safe place for all.
